Whole Numbers & Half Truths

Theme : Data Science, Indian Society

The Book Whole Numbers and Half Truths provides a refreshingly new critical perspective in understanding the Indian polity, economy and society. Through available data sets clubbed with field interviews, the author seeks to unravel the 'real' nature of patterns of work, vote, health, crime etc. Her research unravels how some widely publicised media narratives about migration, urbanisation and crime are actually not true. She throws light on the complex nature of behaviour of the youth and population in general. This also highlights the huge differences between the different states.

Learning : The importance of correct data Collection, reporting and analytics which has a huge bearing on public policy. A rigourous analysis of the field facts can lead to a better understanding of Modern India.

USP : Plenty of data points related to several fields like health, expenditure, economy, crime, elections and others

Women of Influence

Theme : Inspirational Real Life accounts of Lady officers

The Book Women of Influence is a rare curation of stories of Women IAS officers across the country who handled the situation at hand with utmost courage and determination. Some who made a cause like their own at work and went ahead to guide policy making at national and international level. Its about how women faced challenges but turned them into opportunities to do better and prove themselves. 10 such stories are motivational and detailed in account to show how despite the expectations of the people around, the officers did not budge with respect to the principles and the law. As a young lady  officer, I connected personally with these frank accounts of Senior officers in service.

Favourite Quote : "For you are not given a dream, without being given the ability to make it true"

"Ultima Forsan - if this is the last file I do in my office, or the last court order I handle in this district, how should I decide it?"
